HFN conducts usability assessments to support the design of health technology and procurement decisions by healthcare organizations. We work with designers from the earliest stages of the design process through to the finalization of the product. We support healthcare organizations to evaluate and compare health technology before making important purchasing decisions and offer guidance on training and implementation strategies that reflect a deep understanding of users, the use environment and the design of the technology.
HFN conducts proactive and retrospective risk assessments in healthcare environments to improve system safety. Using the formal methods of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and the Canadian Incident Analysis Framework, we work collaboratively with healthcare facilities to identify weaknesses across the system and develop human factors-informed strategies to improve system safety, efficiency and improve overall resilience.
