Human Factors AssessmentsScientists, engineers and systems analysts develop vehicles, tools, machinery and systems, but technology, new or old, is useful only in the hands of the people to whom it is entrusted. Assuring that the instructions, procedures, working environments, displays and controls for industrial, commercial and transportation technology and systems are efficient, usable and safe is the work of human factors/ ergonomics specialists trained in cognitive ergonomics. In cooperation with engineers and systems analysts, they design or update the interfaces between people and technology so that technology and technical systems can be used safely and efficiently.
